I dunno I guess I do have a sincere take which is that so much work got trashed because it was built on good systems that were at the whims of businesses. We painted rad shit on a wall for decades and then it got knocked down because they wanted a different wall there.

Flash changed and got trashed, and everything that could replace it has changed too. We’re all subject to bullshit and everything we do is temporary because somewhere somebody with more money than they need is gonna decide some cool shit has to go

I used to have notions of making games that would last but as I age I realise nobody will allow that anyway. I think I t’s best to either embrace the impermanence and not invest too heavily, or pick another medium.

That's part of what lead me to start designing boardgames but they too disappear from shelves once the print run is over. The closest I've seen to "eternal" is print and plays - or better yet, games that can be played using traditional game pieces.
