The focus on combat/loot is a big reason why I haven't tried many TTRPGs.

There are a lot of good TTRPGs that don't involve combat/loot at all and I hope you get to play them :)

One of my favourites is Follow, a game that is about a fellowship on a quest, but is more interested in the wants and interactions of the characters in the fellowship than the actual outcome of the quest.http://www.lamemage.com/follow/

Thank you, this sounds cool! The ones I tried where we didn't really get into combat were Primetime Adventures and Fate Accelerated. I also really liked how they were setting agnostic.

The #1 reason is I don't have a group who would be willing to play them and I'm too shy to try to butt into anyone else's.

I don't want to be a presumptuous stranger on the internet and offer, but I will say that now that a lot of people can't play in person, there's been a growth in Discord communities for online TTRPGs which I'm sure are happy to have more players :)

For example, I will be running Follow this weekend for a TTRPG event that organizes one-shot games monthly in Malaysia. I'm sure you can find similar events that fit your timezone :)

Oh, I'm sure there are! It's one of those game types that can continue remotely without too much disruption. I find Discord really overwhelming though, and it's what I was talking about when I mentioned butting in earlier.

Having the session in Discord wouldn't be a problem. The daunting thing is the amount of channels/conversations that are happening simultaneously and never ever stop.

Fortunately yes, and I do mute everything as well but I feel like people expect me to be online and following the other conversations. The only one I'm using at the moment is the channel for
