Yup, absolutely. I like the way X-Wing does it, positioning and movement is so important, but it's a fine line. And X-Wing is barely, barely over that line.

I see what they're going for in X-Wing. It's the romantic notion that even your weakest pilot could have a chance to turn the tide. It's accurate to the source material, and they give you a lot of tools to mitigate bad rolls so it didn't bother me that much.

I do like games where the Bad Roll makes a Bad Thing though. Agree that "bad roll = nothing" is no fun, but I have a sadistic love for "Bad roll = something awful happens". Makes ya really think about throwin dem bones
