Hey professional game designers, settle a bar bet* for me: when would you use the word "currency" vs. "resource" when describing those elements of a game? Is there a distinction between the two? (* Not actually at a bar or making an actual bet.)

Good question. To me, in videogames it has to do with it being spent at a shop or how much "in your face" the UI is. In boardgames resources are pretty much anything that isn't gold, coins, credits or gems.
