Bandersnatch take: high interest because of novelty factor will lead to the production of at least one more of the format. It will do considerably worse, or at least prove that branching narratives cost more than they're worth, and it'll all be a short fad.

Right. Pen & paper rpgs does put a large dent in my claim. I'll have to have a think about why this is so. For me it's still true for computer games, or CYOA. There's something about the switch between passive consumption and then pausing to make a choice that doesn't work.

When I play pen&paper I perceive it as one constant activity for some reason. At least until there's rule based combat, at which point it can be immersion breaking that the 'storying' is put on hold.
