Keyforge is an okay game but we enjoy exploring the cards and combos more than the game itself. The fact we have to buy decks instead of boosters is what makes it more accessible to get into but also less accessible to maintain ($$$$).pic.twitter.com/BkAqztpTxy

We keep buying decks because, frankly it's an addiction. We want to know what combo we'll get, if a deck will beat our current house-champ deck (Dubious and Abandoned).pic.twitter.com/lhU3QkMtCo

We've had more duds than not, though, and the 'inability' to deck build means we have a lot of useless decks with gems buried in them, wasting away. Soon, we're either going to houserule deck building or sell the lot.pic.twitter.com/AuSgUPUtWW

this seems like the biggest flaw in the model

Flaw? The whole point is to not have to build decks.

The flaw is that if you keep buying decks, you’re left with inferior ones that you will just never play and can not integrate with anything

You don't need to keep buying decks. That's more a problem of the player than the game. Plus, here are several tournament formats which celebrate wonky decks, including one where you exclusively play using the deck your opponent brought.

you don't need to, but it's silly to think that's not what people are going to do

Still, players have a chance with their $10 deck. The pros outweigh the cons.

all i said is it's a flaw in the model, not that the pros don't outweigh the cons. a flaw doesn't mean the baby should be thrown out with the bath water.
