In theory it's handy to have everything in one place but the truth is there is no hobby where I want to follow every minuscule aspect of it around the globe, and in Facebook there's also no way to filter for the content you want.

So I get flooded with memes, posts about local deals in other countries, lots of "look what I just bought" ant very little about the hobbies/games themselves. Any complaint about this is always met with "Just start your own group".

These offtopic posts dominate the groups and end up clogging my timeline, pushing away posts from family and friends. This is a lot more important now that I'm abroad.

I miss foruns as well but the format has aged so poorly :/ subreddits are a cool alternative as well but i just wish someone would have a modern take on the good old forum.

Agreed! I guess what I would like is a mix between the two. You subscribe to the topics/subtopics you care about and it's easily usable on phones. There would be a frontpage with recent/hot topics.
