@CraftyPlayers - Is this the one we played with?

Yeah, that's the one. It's just enough to show you the potential in the game, enough to make you think "Oh, with more cards/dice, I could do this and this", but not a complete experience.

That's disappointing, but thanks for the warning!

It went cheap in TKMaxx a while back & all my reading said the 2P starter basically gave you a cut-down demo. Needed 2 minimum & were probably better off getting 1 & a couple of other starters. Boosters might not give you what you need to play

Even the first wave was apparently iffy- you could end up with dice or cards that you couldn't use with the 2P starter. I think the issue was with the yellow neutrals. A second set was also needed to get a second die for the characters so you could use the boosted abilities

Yeah- the impression I got was 'pick up a bunch of stuff or leave it completely alone' I chose the latter. At least the cheap A:NR core I got instead is fully playable out of the box

It was the same story with L5R. Without a second set, you couldn't even make a legal deck.

That's really unfortunate, I'd like to give it a shot but I don't want to dive deeper so I was researching how much I could do with a single core. Not much, it seems.
