It really depends on the base mechanics and the target audience. In the first commercial game I worked on I created a sliding block puzzle that could be solved in 4 moves. No playtester saw that solution and by fiddling around they got themselves into a much harder puzzle.

For the casual audience it was for, this frustration could have been the last straw. For a more hardcore audience it could be seen as a nice challenge, and the solution (hopefully?) an easter egg.
