New prototype! It's a small battle royale boardgame I'm calling "Mini Royale" for now. The main mechanism is action programming. Thank you and for playing!

First playtest for "Mini Royale", on Tabletop Simulator.

I haven't seen any of these remakes improve on the original works. The only advantage is that more people hear about it, but because of how effective their advertising is, nobody is aware of the original anymore. And because the remake is poor, nobody wants to.

Few games are as wind-proof as Kamisado Pocket.

Trying a new approach to the map, with a few goals: - Square tiles - Different initial loot - Loot airdrops through the game - One person per tile - Slightly bigger map - Faster sector removal Is there a better way to shuffle the tiles on TTS other than to chuck them in a bag?

Making a new Mini Royale prototype on Tabletop Simulator. New map is slightly bigger, composed of square tiles with a letter, and spaces to show which ones get initial loot, which get airdrops and where the storm token goes in each one.

Every time a movie trailer says "only in theaters" I read it as "we don't care if you die"

Finally watched the Rebuild of Evangelion movies, one per evening over the last four days. I can't stop thinking about it. I think it will take a while to really know how I feel about them.

don't do worldbuilding too early. the world should be built to serve what's being expressed through the mechanics, and a big story bible without specific context is a waste of time and money at best, potentially confusing to the game design at worst

Find-and-replace errors in published works are a hilarious gold mine. My favorite is the 1st Dungeons & Dragons encyclopedia in which they erroneously called wizards "mages" for 16 pgs & had some jr editor switch them. In his defense, he DID replace every <mage> with <wizard>:

This store's Family Games section is nothing but Game of Thrones LCG packs. I guess in a way that makes sense, but also, what the heck.

⭐ Charity illustration ⭐ Ajudaris is a non-profit fighting social exclusion. Every year they set a theme and have school children write stories. Artists illustrate those stories. Everything is compiled in a series of books. I'm very happy I had the opportunity to help 🤩

The boardgame meetup I used to go to was in a restaurant, and often random people would approach and ask about the games. Most of them would say they looked too complex. So I'd point at Kamisado and say "I can teach you how to play this in a single breath.". Worked every time.

Rulebooks are one of the main obstacles for getting into the hobby and reducing that friction is so important. It could be the best game in the world but if the players can't learn how to play it, they'll never know.
