I guess it just comes down to GameMaker being so great for making things quickly which sets it up really well for a game jam.
are there some entries where you don't know the engine? Otherwise these percentages don't make any sense.
I guess many who picked up unity use it because a lot of people use it in general, not necessarily because they have much experience with it; while people who chose game maker are pretty comfortable with it
I think it’s a difference in accessibility when it comes to programming more complex pieces of code. Generally I find GML much easier to code in than other programming. And I also partly because of shovel knight that GMS is so popular w/ indie devs
I'll have to check that 1.11 games made in unity in the top 10.
