It is evident that the City is running out of beds, but tents in Central Park is not an acceptable solution. I am more than willing to look for alternatives and collaborate with City Hall.

Years of consistent, relentless rent hikes have been imposed on tenants in this city, bringing average rents in low-income, middle-income, and mixed neighborhoods to the very brink of affordability, or beyond. RGB should freeze or reduce rents, not raise them.

NYC’s system of rent regulation is our largest and most important affordable housing program. In a city that's desperate for affordable housing, we cannot allow increases of this magnitude that favor property owners over rent stabilized tenants.

Unlike past reports that focused on corruption issues and agency responses to them, DOI surveyed city agencies on how persisting staffing challenges have affected their efforts to monitor and tackle fraud and waste.

I've been extremely vocal about the dangers of reducing headcounts at oversight agencies. This report shows how staffing cuts at all city agencies stymy anti-corruption efforts at an alarming rate.

"Nearly 11 minutes of not one fire, but an accelerating succession of hotter and hotter mini fires. That is thermal runaway." Great reporting on a complex issue. I passed Int. 752-A in March which bans the sale of second use batteries which are highly prone to thermal runaway.

Today is #DenimDay. Every year, this international campaign raises awareness about all forms of sexual violence. All survivors must be given support, compassion, and full and fair access to justice — not ignorance, thoughtlessness and shaming that all too often occur instead.

I’m deeply saddened by the passing of the great Harry Belafonte. He was a longtime resident of the UWS and I adored him. His warmth was as great as his talent and commitment to civil rights. Being with him at the dedication of the Harry Belafonte 115th St. Library was an honor.
