you didn't read the story very carefully. it didn't say they haven't fasted so far

The story clearly says they're leaving whenever they get hungry, purposefully created impression they're just calling it a fast b/w meals

that is not what it said, it said "protesters can leave and get food when they can no longer go on." you have poor reading comprehension.

And then approvingly quotes a bunch of other people saying something false without contradicting them

I used to fast as a Muslim. People who would make a show about eating in front of me as a joke are as funny as 90% of "comedians" on FB.

The kids aren't actually fasting though, they "take breaks."

I read it as they can leave and others can join. But honestly it's a detail - if someone is "I'm not doing X" and then you go out
