This impulse among Trump opponents to not just beat him in the election, but drag him and others kicking and screaming in front of show trials is sick. Ya'll should be ashamed of yourselves.

Put on trial for what crimes? Be specific. "Dividing this nation" is not a crime. https://twitter.com/CarlosTrastama1/status/1318199587266584580 …

I wish we actually held these people accountable. Instead all we get is tribalism and people protecting their own side, while yelling that the other side is evil.

I think Radley's concern is the norm of declining to prosecute the actual crimes of the previous administration.

I agree, but do you think
@radleybalko was actually suggesting extra judicial show trials? It seems to me he was questioning the norm of foregoing investigations into actual crimes of previous administrations in the interest of political harmony. - Show replies

I have a feeling (and there is evidence it’s already happening) state AGs have some questions already so no need for any “commissions”

There should certainly criminal investigations where appropriate. But we also need to assess the damage this administration may have done to national security, foreign policy, public health, etc. The latter isn't for punitive reasons, but because we deserve to know what happened.

There's absolutely no reason whatsoever that a) this would be executed in good faith, b) there wouldn't huge incentives to be used by the next GOP administration over perceived damage to national security, foreign policy, e.g. Iran deal
