It’s always the pedestrians, the cyclists, the young, and the old stuck in the crossfire of 3k lb+ speeding vehicles. Until cities “radically” prioritize people in their communities vs people speeding through them this will continue.

Well said It is not a ‘war on cars’ but an existential fight for human life in the long-term, and health and safety on a daily basis. DC is on the right path:

What’s 👌🏼 about this multilayered social commentary is the rooting in the real world: “Isn’t it crazy [how] much space is used by a car in a city compared to the usage?” he said. “The hack shows us what is possible with this technology and who we rely on.”

Market street isn’t closed for the first time today, it’s finally open! Today is the first day I felt comfortable riding market street with my daughter. It was so quiet, safe, and full of life. This opens entire new parts of the city to our family

With a price topping $11B, or nearly $20m a mile, Trump's border wall is the most expensive of its kind in the world. It's approaching the cost of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier... ...and we “can’t afford” to build high quality transit in the U.S. LOL

Now this is a crazy idea I could get behind. Break DC into 127 states by neighborhood to save our democracy. I want to be the Gov of CoHo: by 2040, 40% of the pop will be in just 5 states, so 1/2 will be represented by just 16 senators and the rest by 84.

I know this is controversial but I am a huge fan, and think starting in small cities w/ low fare-box recovery makes sense. Want to build a constituency for more transit, lanes etc? Reduce the friction & get 50% more people riding:
