Joined @WHO last Monday as Director of Communications. One's first week in a new job tends to be a blur. It was somewhat like that for me. But what dominated my newbie experience was something else, something wonderful. 1/5
It was the realization that my new employer is ultra-dynamic, packed with highly skilled experts and health warriors across the globe, dedicated to the mission of #UHC #HealthForAll, and ensuring safety and security through prevention and response. (Among many other things.) 2/5
I've met no one who's resting on their laurels. There's no complacency, not at the top (@DrTedros), nor at other levels. There's a common focus on achieving greater impact in countries ASAP. I sense that @WHO is a learning organization, a humble one. I feel lucky to be here. 3/5
I'm sure my glasses are rose-colored, which is natural after just 5 days. But at my age, I think I have a decent sense of who and what's for real. As I note earlier in this thread, @WHO is a self-aware place. The current transformation process aims to tackle flaws. 4/5
