    It definitely allows you to do less padding than HLSL, it's closer to C alignment rules. I think people saying 'this allows full HLSL padding' is misleading, it's much more powerful than that :(. scalar layout lets you do e.g. { float2;float4;float2; } in 32 bytes.

    Finland is the only country in Europe where homelessness is declining. The homeless receive a small apartment & counselling – without preconditions. 4 of 5 affected ppl make their way back to a stable life. All this is cheaper than accepting homelessness.

    BC7 and ASTC only have 30 2-subset partition patterns in common. This is a bummer, because BC7 supports 64 patterns. But there's a trick to get more patterns. Here's a visualization of BC7's block partitioning patterns:
