The justify trick required a 0px height, 100% width ::after. Those were the IE8-9 + RWD days, so just a few years before the Flexbox days.

the first goddamn thing i have written in over a year, and also the longest by filesize old css, new css — a heartfelt jaunt through the history of css and website design, at least as i remember it

Reading ’s personal history of CSS and who here remembers distributing inline-blocks horizontally with text-align:justify, and vertically with vertical-align and a super-high pseudo-element? Two very wild tricks.

    Chrome 79 doesn't support padding-inline and padding-block. Woops. I thought they only missed inset-(inline|block)-(start|end).

One thing I’m super happy about: I’m getting the hang of designing fairly simple icons. I tend to imitate what’s out there a lot, so the main work is picking a visual metaphor and drawing in the project’s style.

Mozilla All Hands in Berlin was fun, even though the mood was a bit sad after the layoffs. Still, we find comfort in the little things.

You don’t have to open the main pane to use the Eyedropper. If you put the "Developer" button in your toolbar, it‘s two clicks away.

It’s amazing to me how is largely being justified on grounds that it's "cost-effective." You know what else is cost-effective? Child labor. Dumping sewage into rivers. Fraud. Just because something is cost-effective does not necessarily make it a good idea.

Hmm no, it was -apple-system working, not system-ui, even though wrongly highlight system-ui as matched.

Looks like `font-family: system-ui` started working in Firefox Nightly recently.

So many software people replying that this is perfectly normal and if your software team is not collecting data that way (probably in breach of GDPR and more) they're bad professionals. 🙄

Getting `gap` support in Flexbox layouts is a serious game-changer. Playing with it in Firefox right now and it simplifies so many annoying situations 🤯 Super useful when you need a flex row to be able to wrap for example and want to control the horizontal and vertical spacing.

Last year Avast was caught harvesting users' browsing data through its browser extensions. Google, Mozilla, etc removed them. But we've found through leaked documents + other info that the collection hasn't stopped. It now happens through the AV itself

New: leaked documents, data, contracts show how hugely popular antivirus Avast now harvests internet browsing data and sells it for millions of dollars. Clients included Home Depot, Google, Microsoft. Documents show a product called "All Clicks Feed"
