In a since edited post, Vogue France shared this photo of Julia Fox with the caption “yes to the headscarf!”.
This is a frustratingly tone-deaf take that is ignorant to the fact that Muslim women have been banned from wearing their hijabs in work, sports and beyond in France…
Conversation
It’s also disheartening to see non-Muslim, white women being celebrated for wearing a headscarf (often, solely for fashion) while Muslim women regularly face intense discrimination for wearing it in France and other parts of Europe. Do better.

I agree they need to stop fetishising bits of cloth and realise that anyone can wear a scarf and stop making it either fetish or a crime

Also headscarfs & wraps are a common part of African culture. It's weird that Vogue is trying to appropriate them...

Dear Mrs Shah, as a "junior journalist", you should check your informations : hidjabs (not burqas) are allowed in the streets and sports of France. All religious visibles objects (including kippas.. or catholics stuffs) are forbidden in schools to protect juniors for bigotery.
