much more complicated than that. family run companies for instance have incentives for long term profit strategies. corporations can but it depends on economic factors. in high inflation economies people invest heavily in stock to stay ahead of monetary devaluation.

over investment in stocks leads companies to pump and dump hard. turns their focus to very short term profit. in a deflationary economy people would instead invest in bonds. these set incentives for companies to invest in future success.

effectively owner incentives are determined largely by monetary environment. however governments will always devalue their currency hard. so unless if the fiat cash monopoly changes owners are going incentivized for short term(more destructive) strategies.
