curious if this would open another can of worms. 230c makes it so social networks aren't liable certain user content if they don't curate it. being a "free speech" company is more of a legal protection than a moral stance. if found to be fraudulent, might open them to lawsuits.

We are seeing a crop of new lawsuits which test whether is is ok to discriminated against conservatives. As a consumer, I think it is allowed if it is stated openly, but discriminating and then claiming you were just being objective is a massive headfuck

IANAL, but from what I understand the moment any content(outside of stuff like copyright, serious crimes and basic quality rules) is curated sites can be held liable for stuff like defamation, fraud, whatever that appears on it. lawsuits like these might have very high stakes.

yes, but this could lead to that. if it's found that their free speech claims are fraudulent twitter could lose a privileged position.
