we will hopefully get heat starting nov 1(that’s usually the pattern) but that might be only 1 hour of heat every 3 hours (8 hours total of daily heat
)

the whole building has no heat: we won't get heat until nov 1. he does this every year

Look up the heater made from an upturned clay pot, I heated a small cabin with one. Not toasty but definitely an improvement.

The boiling water does triple duty: Moisture in the air holds on to heat better than dry air. Keeps down static. The energy used to boil it radiates into the room. But it won't overcome your landlord being a d!ck.

thank you for sharing: these are great ideas. i do also use towels at my front door and on my windowsills
it’s tough to live like this, to move through cold air; it’s tough to get things done like cooking & cleaning
