Birds are airborne too. Doesn’t mean they can fly through curtains. Airborne means it’s travels through the air, not *becomes* the air. COVID molecules are still particulate.

It falls out of the air in time. Larger droplets fall quickly within a couple of metres. Tiny droplets (aerosol) can linger for a couple of hours maybe, in an indoor space, and may circulate depending on air flow. That's why distancing anywhere is so important, and masks indoors.

And if enough virus doesn’t make it to a human host it can’t survive. Which is what should’ve happened in the Spring when so many sacrificed our way of living. Unfortunately it was managed so poorly it didn’t work (see Wuhan where they are all having pool parties) and here we are

Cold and flu can be transmitted by airborne droplets. Not everyone has cold or flu. Covid-19 is more virulent & more fatal than either cold or flu, but even for survivors has long-lasting effects on health. Hope this helps!
