Listening to men talk about "fair" ways to address the needs of men who aren't getting laid always reminds me of one of those AIs that figure out that the quickest way to get from point A to point B is by murdering everyone on the plane

As a writer in this area who is developing a project on masculinity and techology, I can say with some confidence that the #incel crowd will be first in line for #sexrobots. I hope it helps but suspect other problems will emerge.

If you think sex robots are actually gonna happen on a mass scale I have a bridge to sell you

Incels won't be satisfied with fucking sexbots for the same reason serial killers aren't satisfied by hacking apart mannequins.

Not entirely sure I agree on an anecdotal level but I can say the graduate research proposals to sort that out will be fascinating.

I mean, I don't doubt that a lot of lonely men will be happy to buy a sexbot and be satisfied with them. But I don't think they can offer what incels want: control, power and status.

Sex robots, even if widely available at the highest standards of male sci fi writing, would not stop incel rage any more than they would stop rape from happening. The sex is only the cover story.

No question that this is correct. A related point: At the highest levels of male sci fi writing, the sex robots have self-awareness, so I suspect the #incel crowd would be right back where it started. And I'm sure Asimov's Laws of #Robotics would come into play.

Incels love to talk about sex robots, but mainly in terms of revenge fantasies about how robots will lower the "value" of real women. Most incels don't use sex dolls or other currently available toys, and I doubt more advanced tech will make a big difference.

It would be wow just *shocking* if it turned out this wasn’t just about sex and was in fact related to other deep-seated issues with these horrifying human beings.

This was addressed in the movie Cherry 2000, a dystopian sci-fi rom-com boy-loses-sex-robot-meets-girl classic from the 1980s. Showed the lengths some guys will go to to avoid listening to real women.
