It is though not at a level that might be appropriate. Most important government websites are now run by NIC who have their security protocols (reasonable for government body with limited resources ). Lets not discount the skill deficit. This service wud rarely be imported. 1/n

Things are changing as more skilled Indians and IT leaders are joining governance and making government aware. Not to mention people like you. India is an elephant.. Things just take time to catch momentum.

On above points.. A suggestion.. Why not check out protocols of http://nic.in websites. Will give a better picture of how worried Indians should be and your voice may reach the right people 3/end.

Good Q. There's at least a 3 generation gap between the politicians and the techies. Most of them are school - college drop outs. And they don't care for the techies. They believe power is knowledge. Never been the other way around

As long as politicians ass isn't on fire they don't care. Uneducated people are running our education department. And reporting bugs mostly backfires. so we don't even try to do charity work. Rather I'd say plz hack official sites and do as much damage as you can to wake them up.
