Let me remind some common sense: - It is not because a company, even a big one, called an app "Protect" that this app is really protecting you - In the life, nothing is free. Plenty of engineers worked on this app, they need to find money somewhere. Here, it's your data.https://twitter.com/fs0c131y/status/964055587871969280 …

      - The business of Facebook is to gather data, not the opposite. Don't expect them to protect your privacy. - Be careful when you choose your VPN. You decide to transit all your traffic to the computer of someone you don't know. Be sure the VPN doesn't keep logs.

Well put. A general rule of thumb is that a VPN provide privacy (between yourself and the VPN server), whereas Tor provides anonymity. Do not rely on a VPN alone to make yourself anonymous. There's some good reading here: https://www.ivpn.net/privacy-guides

There is no way to make sure, your VPN doesn't keep logs. Interesting read: "Don't use VPN services."https://gist.github.com/joepie91/5a9909939e6ce7d09e29 …

TBH, when a VPN is free, just run. That's the rule.
