Hi @HuaweiMobile 👋! In the #HuaweiP8Lite, I found a system application made by Huawei called "imonitor". Among other things, this app is able to dump all the internet traffic of the user. pic.twitter.com/SLHgo55qJc

After going through the setup wizard, I noticed the service LogCollectService which belong to imonitor. At each boot, this service is started and never killed. imonitor has dangerous permissions out of the box like: - ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION - READ_PHONE_STATE - SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW pic.twitter.com/JscmUUAGnL

iMonitor doesnt have Internet permission so it doesnt send anything outside, only stores <tcpdump.log>. Seems to be an engineering feature. com.huawei.imonitor (de7ff20f2d0c8c0750b7fe47382c2aa5e7043e41a05f0c2fd194f833ec6c9cb1) #1

There are multiple things here: - Yes, this tcpdump feature is probably an engineering feature - I didn't see where this feature is used - You know what it is, we are talking about system apps. An app can store the file and another one send it

          - The most important thing here is: why the f*ck this service is running all the time, persistant after reboot - The app is called monitor

Visiblement, personne n'a encore tiré le signal d'alarme à ce sujet. Peut-être orange, à cause de son cloud pro qui devait être hébergé en Chine.

The size of the file increases as we click new photos or store it in our phones. This is a suspicious file. These are not thumbnails as thumbnails are located in .thumbnail folder.
