Hi @xiaomi
! Can we talk about your MiuiDaemon application?
This application is monitoring among other things Bluetooth, boot, broadcast, package, screen on events. Of course, all this data is sent to a China server.pic.twitter.com/vn2WVj7d5X
You can add location information to your Tweets, such as your city or precise location, from the web and via third-party applications. You always have the option to delete your Tweet location history. Learn more
There is clearly a lot to find in this app. It's cleary worth a deep analysis. If you have reverse skills, download the firmware, reverse this app and share with the world your results! http://en.miui.com/download-326.html …
When you find this type of data collection, best to look into any agreements you have to accept when setting up the phone, it's in there somewhere
Accepting this type of data collection is one thing. It doesn't make this data collection less scandalous...Moreover, they have the obligation to allow the user to opt out from it
I understand that, but they have to "explain" what they are collecting somewhere in there, even though it's in lawyer gibberish
Yes, this is one of the goal of this kind of tweet thread.
Can they (a company like @Xiaomi) explain in non lawyer vocab to their users, why they dump so much data?
Is this agreement really respect the laws of the countries where their phones are sell?
all my phone activities are watchful in sina? xiaomi me love you but you watch me watching it ! mhh
the party demands it
Now there is an "Authorisation and revocation" menu , and they says that by turning off the authorisation for an app from that menu, we are opting out from the data being sent .
Settings - Additional settings - Authorization and Revocation
Thanks for this. it denied me revocation the first time. hopefully it fully revoked the second time since it said i revoked successfully on the second attempt.
