Hi Elliot, we don't open units for provisioning, and the serial number inside is used by factory for internal use. The serial number on the boxes is our serial number used for tracking. We identify physical units by Device ID that shows on every device.

How do you provision a phone when it’s sealed in the box? Who provisions and how?

What we meant was - we don’t remove the back cover when we provision. The device has no user serviceable parts inside and should not be opened or tampered with.

Ah ok, I see! But your filing with the FCC stipulates that the product must ship with the battery removed (unless I’m mistaken) so who installs the battery? You or the end user?

No no, you've got it all wrong. The box serial is specifically for the box, not the device. Right?
