WhatsApp has stated it provides end to end encryption. That does not entail the encryption of files once they're received or when they're not being sent. Thanks for clarifying how utterly useless your chain of tweets was which is frankly disappointing after all you've done.

If the file was to remain encrypted, that would mean only the app that received it, i.e WhatsApp would be able to open it. I suppose it would be too inconvenient to open WhatsApp just to open a file.

ok, but i missed the point. by default every files exchanged in WA needs to stay encrypted on device? i mean, if that's the case every files exchanged will be strictly related to WA application due to its encryption. is that your proposal? just asking for a friend..
