The press statement made by @UIDAI on the fact that their number is saved by default is a BIG LIE. Check this press statement made in 2014.pic.twitter.com/CRUTAjEg2w

After seeing this Aadhar card, some people who are doubting that Elliot is an Indian. In reality, this is his girlfriend's Aadhar Card, who is an Indian.
But I’m Indian!
Or not. Let me ask to my mom
Okay, here’s my theory - It is either Google (via Gmail) or WhatsApp that is adding UIDAI number. The fact that people are seeing it on iPhone was worrying at first but makes sense if Gmail is synced to default mail app which has read/write permissions for contacts.
I have seen tweets saying that people who don’t have Gmail synced to their devices, haven’t seen the number appear in their phonebooks. My second guess would be WhatsApp, which can also have contacts read/write permissions on iPhone, if granted.
@fs0c131y On an iPhone, on can check (and rule out) if the carrier is indeed doing this by a) deleting that UIDAI number and then b) Head over yo Settings > Contacts > Import Sun Contacts. If it reappears, it is the carrier. If it does not, it is something else.pic.twitter.com/ciVcu3FjAO
One can also go to Contacts app on their iPhone, tap Groups button on the top left corner and cycle through each of those groups to figure where exactly does the UIDAI contact reside.
UIDAI be like: Ohh that!!!!!!!!! We lie alot. @UIDAI

This guy is totally bashing UIDAI without showing MERCY with his tweets.. He repeatedly trying to PROVE Aadhar is just Unsafe for Privacy n Hackable easily..
I agree that he’s sort of obsessed with making a mockery out of UIDAI and Aadhaar. But, as yet has not really shown any evidence of hackability of Aadhaar database, especially the biometrics part of it and more importantly has not in clear terms shown the harm that can result.
I sometimes think that the folks at @UIDAI themselves don't want Aadhar to succeed.
This controversy could have been avoided had they decided tojust tell the truth but..
so I got this number in my phone by SIM provider.. is it a security issue?
Nope. The security issue is how they got in without your knowledge. The issue is what else can be added without your knowledge. And where is our minister who wanted to summon mark zuckerberg?
whose fault is it if you don't have knowledge about "how it got added"..??? your phone sends a lot of info without your knowledge..
Ok. I didnt say it was added in my phone. Did i? True, my phone does send a lot of info over the net. When people like elliot asks people to be cautious of the data they share and expose the lies of security, why are you defending these lies? It aint just for us.
what data is added here? Adhar is used by more than 80 cr people, so what if a helpline number for the same is added in our phones??
Helpline for what? What data? Do me a favor. Install packet capture. Checkout your background data usage.
you doubt it ..you do it..and prove how to leak data by adding a contact..
