Yelling on your co-workers is not an option. There is no justification for that. If someone yell at you or if you witness this kind of behaviour, denounce it. Nobody has to support that.
You escalated the issue to the hierarchy first :). Finding a peaceful solution is always better

Been there done that, you (or management) are not always in a mode of hiring/firing or discipline. Personally, I look at shouting as a means for decompressing myself before I start dealing with the mess made by others.
