    Leave it to NPR to make it sound like Sussman is being incited for lying "about possible ties between Donald Trump and Russia." And no need to waste pixels on what his defense says, right?

    A second individual has been charged in special counsel John Durham's investigation into the origins of the FBI's Trump-Russia probe. A Washington attorney has been indicted over allegedly lying to the FBI.

    Will wait and see what evidence the indictment contains before passing final judgment, but based on the facts laid out here, this seems like a stretch, especially given the arguments Sussman has in defense.

    To explain, the whole basis for this indictment is that (a) DOJ hazily contends that Sussman represented the Clinton campaign and (b) Jim Baker doesn't remember him saying that he did and this other guy's hearsay notes suggest he said he wasn't there on behalf of a client...

    Free advice if you want it. Stop enabling authoritarian loving psychos for clicks and go after their money, their IDs, how they organize, the things they don't want people to see. Otherwise there are lots of chances to go viral as an entertainment reporter.

    I'm seeing a backslide into reporting that amplifies extremist or hard right figures for clicks, retweets, filling out content churn, without adding context or exposing something new. I thought a few years ago we all agreed that was bad...?

    1/ here is the transcript from the House Intel committee hearing -- the relevant part starts on p 57 or so Durham is completely out of bounds with this. There was no known FBI investigation at the time he spoke to the FBI general counsel (Baker)
