“Disabled people live very full lives. We can be anything we set our minds to.     We do not need nor want anyone’s pity. We do not need reassurance to know that we can thrive.”     —Youth organizer @frias_daphne 🙌 instagram.com/p/ChSSTVYr9Qs/

As soon as I finished treatment, the mental health support just disappeared. This is one of the main reasons I’m involved in psycho-oncological survivorship research. Life after cancer is not the same as life without cancer. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth

Every cancer treatment facility should provide mental health care starting from diagnosis and continuing after treatment is completed. The mental toll of cancer is absolutely not taken seriously enough. @ThanksCancer #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth

Reparations are needed for the impacts of colonialism making countries more vulnerable to the climate crisis. Accountability is needed from Global North countries & large companies that have degraded biodiversity and destroyed people’s lives through projects & climate impacts.

Yesterday, our international spokesperson @mitzijonelle, alongside climate activists @lizwathuti from Kenya and @licypriyakangujam from India, met King Charles III of the UK and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany. Here is a short clip of their conversation.

30 infants die and we recall 4.7 mil Rock ‘n Play Sleepers. 2 toddlers die and we recall 3.2 mil Calico Critters toys. 2 infants die and we recall so much formula that the US goes into shortage. Last year, over 6,000 children were injured by gun violence. Nothing. Nada.

I’m very disappointed in the President for approving the Willow Project. Youth voter turnout was at its highest in 2020 & young folks supported him because of commitments such as “no more drilling on federal land”. That commitment has been broken. We deserve a livable future.

We are Gen-Z for Change, a coalition of Gen-Z activists who have worked with @POTUS for the duration of his presidency. Despite our working relationship, we want to make one thing clear — the approval of the Willow Project is a slap in the face to young people across the country.

As we countdown to Match Day, I want you to meet Dr. Kevin Jon Williams. For nearly 20 years, he fought for - and eventually won - a student-optimal matching algorithm. It’s one of the great stories of advocacy in Match history… and the NRMP refuses to acknowledge it. (a 🧵)
Graphic of Dr. Kevin Jon Williams lecturing. The screen says, If not now, when? And unfortunately, if not us, who? His quote reads, “We were the last people standing who knew the bias… we couldn’t walk away from this problem.”

BREAKING: The Biden administration is approving the major Willow oil project on Alaska’s petroleum-rich North Slope, according to two people familiar with the decision. apnews.com/article/alaska

Approving an oil project amid toxic train derailments & multiple town poisonings is certainly one way to respond to our climate crisis. Maybe, & I’m just thinking out loud here, the geriatric who was a fully grown man before the civil rights act doesn’t have OUR future in mind?

The White House will approve the massive Willow oil project in Alaska today, rejecting pleas from enviro groups and some tribal communities who fear the development will threaten the wilderness and undermine Biden's promises to fight climate change. politico.com/news/2023/03/1
