    I wrote a GPU implementation of Conway's Game Of Life using compute shaders in WebGPU. You currently need Chrome Canary and a specific flag (see the readme) to run it. The code and a live demo are here: .

    Update: It breaks only WebGL2 shaders and it is spec compliant. See section 4.1.7 Still, a little heads up would be nice.

    Watchout, 79 breaks some shaders again. Before you could access an array of textures with a non-constant index. Ex: for(int i=0; i<4; i++){ vec4 sample = texture(shadowMaps[i], uv); (...) } Error: "array index for samplers must be constant integral expressions"

    I'm thinking in the context of HDR rendering with transparent objects in the mix. We either have alpha blending between sRGB in [0, 1] fragments or alpha blending between linear in [0, MAX_FPXX] fragments.

    I see many engine doing tone mapping and gamma correction per fragment and not per pixel, why is that? The subtle difference is not worth the cost of a full-screen pass?

    Watchout, 75 breaks some WebGL1 shaders. Before 75 you could do something like: precision highp float; GL_OES_standard_derivatives : enable Now this breaks because "extension directive should occur before any non-preprocessor tokens" which makes sense.
