If you’re in a position of leadership never ever respond to any comment or question, no matter how inane, with hostility. This shuts down the flow of ideas and is so hard to reverse. And your hostility can be very subtle. Face, body language, tone, everything is communication.

Learn the Pyramid Principle, and apply a simple version of it to your communication. Always start at the highest level and let the discussion bring you down into the details. Poor communicators start in the details without framing and giving good context. Thing I coach the most

e.g.: - ‘question’ -> “yes” - “why?” -> ‘these three reasons’ - “pls expand on reason 3” -> ‘details on reason 3’ Most people answer the original question with the details answer.

Be authentically you when you communicate. If you have a broad vocabulary, use it. I despise this trend of speaking in international business English. It’s not better - it’s contributing to the dumbing down of our species. Complex obscure words exist to create color and joy.
