    If I learned one thing in my stats class it was to never trust potentially cherry-picked data. So I made a graph showing the number of women in the House by party starting in 1917, the year the first woman was elected into the House.

    It would be much worse because journalists would substitute the opinions of people in their social circles and/or powerful sources and/or their own opinions for broader public opinion. Polls serve as a reality check against journalistic groupthink.

    This report is for the atmosphere/land surface. Our Gulf of Maine stats are for the ocean. We do include the Arctic in our ocean temperature analysis, but the presence of ice makes it tough. The switch from lots of ice to a little is huge, regardless of the temperature trend.
