wow, Linus- way not to support interoperability, there.... "X is sufficient..." not on embedded HW -doesnt take OSX - nor windows into account. LibGGI- or a hack thereof- IS the UNIVERSAL way to go.

once you plug the OS GAPPED API flaws- then you can work on a unified rendering structure--re-working X11 (and flawed XGL), if need be. It make video drivers obsolete- something you mustve gotten paid for w KMS kernel switch.

you wont need low-level code to interface- you just DRAW--but I guess youre too busy making others do more more than is needed -to care?

GLUT and GLEW (plus some) can more than bridge the gaps. Its time to focus on lower level hardware and why GL itself requires X11. Because once you unhook THAT- THEN GL is universal.

the old doom era(as like for dos) is the only way to do things in the console. You just dont have DPMI to deal with.(you have this kludge called X11 instead) Maybe my setup is embedded arduino? (you dont know-but y should we care?) putpixel should still work.

yes- its core API- without it you are screwed! You cant draw windows on screen without the core API. PERIOD. I dont care how many pretty layers you stack on it--those layers should not replace CORE API routines- nor be forced to rewrite them.
