    Watch out for the people who answer EVERY call out of Taliban behaviour with "thugs posing as Taliban". Which thugs? The ones you freed from all the prisons? The ones who just got to the country? What does it say about a group when they're identical to thugs?

    And we are told from different sources that there are no refugee flows out of AFG from the Iran, Pakistan & Northern borders. Only issue is at HKIA.

    Very important point: the scenes at airport are indeed dramatic and should be reported. However, the relative calm of the rest of the city should also be noted.

    Regarding the current situation in Kabul: apart from the airport, which is a brutal mess, from what I've seen riding around the last three days, the city has been calm under the Taliban. A good surprise, for now. But the airport evacuation dominates international coverage.

    Just because some replies to the below already spun conspiracy theories: it is very well possible that there is a harmless explanation to this, e.g. some evacuation of one or several stranded Westerners.

    I just saw two Chinooks heading north from airport. In the old days this would have been unexceptional, but with Bagram gone, one wonders where they were heading...

    Tonight's explosion in took place in Shirpoor, which is NOT in the green zone. The street in front of tonight's target, the house of the Acting Minister of Defence, is open to any traffic and there is no specific check or control to enter it.

    Most probably the Taliban's 1st major attack in Kabul since the Doha deal. Only Taliban has the capacity of any complex attack in the Green Zone. Taliban might not claim it although it seem the TB possible reaction to the recent frequent US airstrikes in support of Afghan forces.
