And six months after I took the picture above of the bust of Zachary Taylor streaked with blood from a rioter on Jan 6th, they have pulled back the covering and cleaned it:pic.twitter.com/jSvyWUFM0B
Incredibly sad, frustrating and traumatic ~ I cannot imagine your trauma or trying to unlive or not fear that this could happen again. Esp when the ring leaders have not received any consequences for their part in it. It was only a drill.
@nytimes videography on the insurrection is illuminating. Can’t imagine the trauma on all those mercilessly attacked. Horrifying.
Excellent report. The truth about Jan 6 insurrection needs to be continually reported. It was a reality. It was an attack on our country. And yes many there were traumatized. GOP acts like it was nothing, because they themselves weren’t victims & they know it. Kudos to reporters.
Former staffer - I was stunned watching the events of 1/6. It was horrible to watch & see our Capitol be attached by domestic terrorists. Furious now at some folks trying to minimize what happened. It was Insurrection. I hope therapy helps you deal with the trauma of 1/6.
Group therapy with other survivors might be helpful. I found it so when I was grieving the loss of my fiancé in the late 90s.
Good to see self-reflection on past reporting. Re Tea Party: “We used a lot of euphemisms. That was white rage and we should have covered it as white rage, and we didn’t, we covered it as conservative backlash. They were booing John Lewis, for god’s sake.”
