Yes. Just speaking from experience, and I don’t know any of them, I would bet they all have faced challenges. Different than those with no access to the industry. Show biz as we all know is pretty rough, and ultimately is a meritocracy.
I don't for a second doubt that they've all faced challenges. They're human. I simply reject the claim that the industry is - in the short term or long term - a meritocracy. If it were, how do you explain the utter lack of diversity behind the camera? Lack of merit?
I am just throwing this out there.... I am a nobody but I have the most amazing tale to tell that I cannot get ANYONE to pay attention to. I wish I had someone's ear that could help. I know people would relate to my story.
I agree with you. I’ve seen it firsthand. The bottom line is this: name+connections are valuable currency. Just ask @LinkedIn It would b better if we all just owned it. It doesn’t mean someone is not talented. But it helped A LOT!
