And Discovery got the entire kit & kaboodle of Warner Media for $40B. When money kinda means nothing...
-
That is a merger. AT&T stockholders will still own 71% of the new company and Discovery stakeholders 29%.

Amazon isn't going to just sit on all those movies like Disney is doing with the 20th Century Fox library.

Honestly the MGM number is insane. Amazon is really gonna try and argue that James Bond and Rocky/Creed is worth as much as Marvel and Star Wars? Nah.
-
Also technically they only own half of Bond, Eon is still majority share holder and they'll need eons approval for any changes they want to make, so they don't even have full control over their biggest property.

I need one of those graphics again that maps out who owns what. I imagine it's getting closer to looking like 2 big eyes with a ton of lashes. The Cyclops is on the horizon.

Don't forget Pixar, those deals look like steals now. Disney knows how to monetize and develop IP, Amazon doesn't. Also, biggest brand at MGM, James Bond, is not 100% owned, with EON / Danjaq sharing ownership & control. Might get a little messy down the line...
-
Yeah, but that Pixar deal was richer. $7.4B in 2006, Adjusted for inflation, roughly $9.8B.
