Let's also remember that this took place in March of 2015, relatively early in the days of All Lives Matter even being common parlance as an expression of contempt for the Black Lives Matter movement. Clinton's notorious comments didn't come til June 2015.http://southbendvoice.com/2015/03/11/full-text-mayor-buttigiegs-state-of-the-city-address-2015/ …

Franklin, I did. The fact that you’re going this hard in the paint for him on this is disappointing. It’s also insulting that you think I wouldn’t have read the entire article.

We don’t know each other & the vast majority of folks responding hadn’t read the article or the underlying speech. My conclusion that you hadn’t is therefore reasonable.

Beyond that, this isn’t about going hard in the paint for anyone. It’s about the process being based on the merits, not out of context quotes further miscontextualized by implying that those three words were uttered in reference to what you claimed they were.

It shows he doesn't appreciate why the phrase itself is problematic, regardless of how he feels about it. It would be so simple not to pick the All Lives Matter side, a gentrification of the original phrase Black Lives Matter, but he chose to. He could've not said it, but he did.

Pete's biggest strength, in my eyes, is his thoughtful and nuanced answers. Unfortunately, that's his biggest weakness to the twitting masses who have no ability nor desire to comprehend anything beyond headlines or 240 words. (I just made "twitting" a word and i'm not sorry)

Granted, there's a bias, but it's against our box-checking, credential manufacturing meritocracy, and how it skims the cream of obsequious power-pleasers to perpetuate status quo values. The preponderance of Pete in the article reveals him to be a Perfect Paper Candidate.

I believe there are some verifiable, hard number facts that are wrong. I want a real, investigative piece that takes an in-depth analysis of how POC in S. Bend really feel about - good, bad, & neutral - because I think that is very impt to assessing his policies. This isn't it.
