The commercial industry is never going to offer full support of back catalog games, and our own federal government is making it all but impossible for even libraries to help with access. No one will save video game history but all of us, and that will never change.

What’s troubling is even those games that can be saved through hard media (disk/cartridge) might have DLC/expansion that’s locked by Internet confirmation. Once support is gone for that, that’s a whole half or more of a game that is just locked away.

It's a real cool situation we're in with Nintendo as litigious as they are, and this being the second time they've pulled the rug out from underneath us on a digital store front. Just no interest at all in respecting their legacy, only hoarding it.

Ah, that classic Nintendo thoughtlessness cringe. Fortunately, all their original hardware is easy to homebrew, via Flashcart or software hack. Thank you hackers and homebrewers, you are the true heroes of the industry. Certainly not all 3 of the first party companies.
