Have a friend who’s a 2x founder, ML researcher & software engineer. The startup that employed him just dissolved, so he’s open to new offers. (“Ideally, a remote-friendly research engineer role in an AI-safety-minded org.”)
DM me if I should put you in touch!

, wondering if Labour feels consumers should be paying maximum marginal gas prices for lower-cost, fixed price electricity from nuclear, hydro and renewable right now?
There is much talk happening on how to solve the so-called cost-of-living crisis. Most of it fails to recognise that the problem is much bigger than that: the whole economy is in meltdown. None seems to address the cost of energy itself. A thread on the last, vital, point….
… most references to the “Double Diamond” #design process cite the UK Design Council (2005). fewer people go back to the source… by Béla H. Bánáthy in 1996’s “Designing Social Systems In A Changing World”…
Is there a writer on here who could benefit from some time by the sea this autumn? I’m travelling quite a lot, and my flat would be available to someone who had a project they needed time and space to get on top of… drop me a line and we can explore!
“Burnout” is a particularly modern affliction, feeling simultaneously overwhelmed and paralyzed. I’ve found it’s best to think of burnout not as a disease but as a symptom, with many different etiologies. The big three: permanent on-call, broken steering, and mission doubt.

I have seen many lovely things today but this is the most wonderful joyful moment as several hundred sand martins swirled around us & descended on the reeds.
This image of a woman shirtless in a sports bra - hugely significant. This is a woman’s body - not for sex or show - just for the sheer joy of what she can do and the power and skill she has. Wonderful. #Lionesses

An old therapist friend once told me that suicide isn't born of the need to end one’s life, but to end/reform the particular life & circumstances that one is now living. I've reminded many people of this crucial distinction when in the depths of despair - it's been very helpful.
Louvred shutters are incredibly effective at keeping interiors cool, they have negligible carbon cost, and most facades are visually enriched by them. An idea for the next generation of New London Vernacular?
As an integrative counsellor I use various models as applicable to specific situations, but this is what I return to. In fact it is my theory safe base.
Bowlby on therapy as an attachment relationship:
