Solidarity with those marching in Manchester against antisemitism today. Today I explain in the Newcastle Chronicle why I resigned my Labour membership over the antisemitism crisis

“When I used to run cartoons in my section, no fewer than four people would see it before it went to print. At... NYT... they all thought it was fine? What that tells me is that there is a culture of antisemitism somewhere in the newsroom.”

I am heartbroken to wake to the news of a shooting at a San Diego synagogue. There seems no end to the hate or senseless violence - I hope one day we can defeat it. My heart and my thoughts are with the Jewish Community today.

I honestly cannot believe that an antisemitic cartoon like this is being published in a mainstream newspaper like the New York Times. In 2019.

This is abysmal television: the BBC has become a very sick institution.

If you want to know why autism charities are even needed, consider that politicians say helping mentally ill people is a priority, then slash the money that local authorities need to fund places in special schools and sheltered housing.

I was a Remainer, then, after the vote, a reluctant Leaver, then, after watching years of leaders in sector after sector saying Brexit would *harm the UK*, I had to campaign again for Remain. I don't think leavers are racist, I do think they are wrong.

You're playing the person rather than the ball. You don't have to agree with everything one says in the marketplace of ideas to agree with a particular (set of) point(s) raised in individual articles. This is how free speech opponents shut down debate through association guilt.

Yes, I do support the regeneration of impoverished areas. I believe that poor communities deserve decent homes and green spaces, just like wealthy ones. Labour's opposition to these schemes is a disgrace & a true and genuine betrayal of working class people. 🙏

I won’t give Katie Hopkins the airtime of sharing her latest vile piece of propaganda, just to say her using the persecution of European Jews against European Muslims is despicable. Decent people will not ally with racists, we’ve seen these type before. She can sod right off.
