Happy Election Day!!!!! In this thread, my most vivid memories of that period in time where Joe Biden was one heartbeat away from the presidency. Starting with the moment I swore never to vote for another Democrat again: the Obamas doing the wave with Raul Castro

Everyone was ready to get in on the action in Ukraine but when Haiti needs military aid... only Jamaica answers the call. A head-scratcher.

The buzz around the Last of Us is reminding me a lot of when everyone went nuts for Chernobyl. That show looks wildly depressing, I'm not spending my nice tv time on that!!!!

I think blanket banning athletes is stupid. It should be on the basis of if they are openly supporting human rights abuses. I'm still mad they banned Rublev, who took a huge risk opposing the Ukraine war, from Wimbledon, but regime-friendly Chinese players are ok.

Why do Belarusian athletes keep getting lumped in with the Russians? Where is the ban on North Korean, Chinese, Indian athletes if we are going that route, and where does this path end? If Lula makes fun of Zelensky, are Brazilians banned from Wimbledon?

Hot take: military action in Venezuela would be more beneficial to the US and more damaging to Russia than arming the Ukraine war

Gabriel Boric is not our friend. He is a Marxist who has described himself as "to the left of" the Communist Party. He's just going to be wildly counterproductive for the Latin American left bc he thought he was their new leader and now Lula's back and only one can be the alpha.

The inevitable personality clash between Lula and Gabriel Boric ruining the left's plans for Latin America has me like 🍿🍿🍿🍿

Whoever advised Boric to dress up as a Village Person to get poor people to like him should be fired

The silence in American corporate media over Peru is particularly deafening compared to the freakout over the Brazilian riot, which resulted in no deaths (Peru is up to 54)

When I was young, the Australian Open used to be my favorite slam because the audience is outrageously drunk and there is live tennis at 3am my time. Everyone is still drunk, but I have responsibilities now so instead of staying up late I have to wake up early. Still the best.

My heart is too full of love for the innocent victims of communism to have any room for the communists who get eaten up by their own.

GG, the most prominent English-language Lula fanboy on Twitter, complaining about the "censorship regime" is absolutely hilarious. Pobrecito.

The Australian government that imprisoned Djokovic was "conservative," btw. If you suddenly noticed at the end of 2022 a bunch of leftist governments popping up all over the place, it's because in a lot of the world this is how "conservatives" handled the pandemic.
Revisiting the Novak Djokovic Australia disaster and I feel like that was an underrated episode of collective pandemic lunacy. They put him in a migrant detention facility!!!
