OK so I just rewatched Wonder Woman and I am 1000% certain that Diana *seduced* that blue dress right off its original owner rather than stealing it, YOU WILL NOT CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE

Listen. LISTEN. Diana grew up on Themiscyra surrounded exclusively by beautiful older women, okay? She knows *exactly* what to do in this situation. And here we have Blue Dress Lady, clearly unhappy and underappreciated, being dragged into nonsense and ignored by her husband.

Diana charms her. Tells her how beautiful she looks, asks sweetly to borrow the dress because it's an urgent matter, and this woman gets COMPLETELY CAUGHT UP IN THE MOMENT, as you would, and goes along with it.

But of COURSE she's self-conscious about the body her husband no longer worships because she has wrinkles and edges now; because she has dared to age. And she makes a self-deprecating comment that Diana should look away, and will doubtless look better in the dress besides.

And Diana is not having that. She says, with utter sincerity, that the woman is truly beautiful and that men are fools; tells her that, in her country, she would have women fighting for the right to be with her. The woman gets flushed and flustered, never mind she's UNDRESSING -

- and of course, that only gets worse when Diana takes her own things off to put the dress on, completely unselfconscious. The woman stares. The woman is naked and is, for the first time in many years, utterly unaware of it. Diana smiles and picks up her discarded cloak.

"Here," she says, and drapes it gently around the woman's shoulders. "You look cold." And then, frowning slightly, "You should go somewhere safe, far away. It's dangerous here." The woman nods, stunned. Asks, "And what of you?"

Diana smiles. "I'll be fine," she says - and on impulse, leans in to kiss her in thanks, just at the edge of her mouth. The woman cannot speak; can only watch the gleam of the sword at Diana's back as she strides towards the castle.

The woman stands in the trees for a long moment, silent. And then, clad in nothing but her cloak, she starts to walk away through the forest - away from her husband, away from the life she has neither liked nor wanted for a long, long time.

Later, she hears the explosions coming from the castle. She doesn't look back. Later still, when her feet are sore and bleeding, and she is found wandering by a road, she gives a fake name to the people who rescue her. The woman she was is thought dead, along with her husband.

Years later, as she lies an old woman in her final bed, surrounded by her second family, she is not ashamed when one of her final thoughts is not of her dear Marie, who helped her live, but of a gentle press of lips in a misty forest; a flash of blue; a sword; and a secret smile.

Diana traded a blue dress for a chance at love. Her first act as a goddess; though it will be many, many years - and a very strange sequence of events - before she ever hears of it, and learns the woman's name. FIN.
