Writers, can you recommend any fantasy short stories that might help teens write their own better? Thank you! #amwriting

What sort of recs are you looking for in terms of being helpful? Do you mean as examples of style or voice, or just the type of story that might inspire teens to think/write, or both?

I'm not picky. Either or both. I have a student who'd like to start writing fantasy, and I'm looking for short pieces that have solid writing to add awareness to her toolkit.

Just read a wonderful short this week in Clarkesworld, The Persistence of Blood by Juliette Wade. http://clarkesworldmagazine.com/wade_03_18/

Catherynne M. Valente's Silently and Very Fast is BRILLIANT; can also recommend Yoon Ha Lee's short collection, Conservation of Shadows, which does *amazing* things with style and language.
