Listen: Republicans do not give a shit about PR. Their whole model for social support is predicated on charity doing what the gov't won't.

In their world, Good Christian White Folks tithe to the church, and the church takes care of the vulnerable masses so gov't doesn't have to.

Likewise, Good Samaritans who pitch in are meant to be motivated by *their* religious piety, b/c charity is seen as moral & thus religious.

Even so, the underlying Republican ideal is still that of a society in which the government regulates nothing but war and church tithes.
